Toyota Fund College Students Summer Camp Launched in Chengdu

Jing Dunquan, Vice Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and Sugahara Hideki, Director of Social Contribution Promotion Department of Toyota Motor Corporation launch the online communication platform of CSCLF Toyota Aid for College Students from Poor Families.

The opening ceremony of the 2015 CSCLF Toyota Fund College Students Summer Camp was held in Chengdu on August 4, 2015. Over 260 sponsored students from 26 universities in central and western China attended the ceremony.

The summer camp lasted for 5 days. Sponsored students would take part in colorful activities including special outward bound training, motivational lectures, vocational planning training. More than 10 people who had received the funds before also came back from the cities where they work and live, sharing their stories with their juniors and enjoying the happy summer camp activities together.

A video was shown at the opening ceremony, reviewing the progress of the fund helping students chase their dreams in the recent ten years through colorful activities. After watching the video, Jing Dunquan, Vice Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and Sugahara Hideki, Director of Social Contribution Promotion Department of Toyota Motor Corporation delivered speeches at the ceremony. Then, the online communication platform of CSCLF Toyota Aid for College Students from Poor Families was launched. Sponsored students will have more convenient communication and information sharing through the platform.

Sponsored students from Qinghai Nationalities University perform a Tibetan dance.

Liu Sheng from Wuhan University delivered a speech to share his story with the Toyota Aid for College Students from Poor Families, as the representative of sponsored college students. Sponsored students from Qinghai Nationalities University performed a Tibetan dance. And sponsored students from Wuhan University performed a sign language dance "Life in Full Bloom".

The Toyota Aid for College Students from Poor Families had sponsored 2070 students from 2006 to 2014. 1310 of them have already graduated and worked in different industries. The application for the 2015 Toyota Aid has started from August 1, and will last until September 13 (based on the postmark date). Excellent high school graduates from poor families who applied for the 26 universities covered in the project in central and western China, can download the application form from the website of CSCLF (www.sclf.org), Toyota (China) Motor Corporation (www.toyota.com.cn) and the 26 universities, and send the form to the Toyota Aid office in these universities after filling the form. The result will be released in mid October. Every sponsored student will receive a 4000-yuan donation every year for 4 consecutive years.
